Great conversation! I think the key to success in effective communication as you two stated is talk less and listening deeper. Establish and confirm a shared understanding and alignment.
Learning as much as possible about your audience; what inspires or what obstacles are getting in the way.
I also loved the example “A good conversation is like a miniskirt. Short enough to retain interest but long enough to cover the subject.” comical but true.
