What makes an Emergent Leader? An Emergent Leader has a clear sense of awareness about who they want to be as a leader and how they choose to make a difference at work, in family, and in the community. They communicate clearly and listen intuitively, and have the courage for “missing conversations.” The Emergent Leader is agile—they recognize styles that are different from their own and can easily adapt to enhance the working relationship. They are energized by change and able to shift priorities fluidly. An Emergent Leader knows that the start of a great team is a vision that unites all members and that is built on the foundation of trust. The Emergent Leader is focused on performance: individually, on teams, and organizationally.

By completing this course, leaders will have:

  • A personalized vision of the characteristics that will lead to leadership greatness and an action plan that identifies the gaps and how to fill them;
  • A strong understanding of the best practices in a) communicating clearly, b) demystifying the real way to listen, and c) achieving confidence in having difficult conversations;
  • The ability to identify others’ working styles and preferences, and how best to work with people who are different from themselves;
  • A strong appreciation for what drives high performing teams, and the knowledge to both strengthen trust within the team and create a vision that unites all members of the team;
  • The skills needed to drive performance: coaching others, managing appropriately to another’s competency and motivation, and using feedback to encourage strong performance in others.

Assessments included in this course: DiSC and Situational Leadership.

Location to be determined.

Leadership Roundtable Webinar

Imagine conducting performance reviews that are not only effective but engaging – reviews that are embraced by every leader and employee in your organization.

Impossible? Not in our experience.

The key is continual open dialogue. Very different than the typical annual event, effective performance management reviews are less about the paperwork and more about the quality of the dialogue between leaders and employees. The infrastructure and assets that support this dynamic are important and must be culturally relevant to the organization, but even more important is the ability to listen deeply and to receive and provide meaningful feedback.

Join us in this informative webinar to learn how to add to (or build anew) your current performance management process.

Join us for a discussion with Kimberly Boynton, President and Chief Executive Officer at Crouse Health

SheFORWARD is a mastermind group that focuses on women and leadership. SheFORWARD is an opportunity to learn from one another and to explore how we each define and apply our own leadership vision.

SheFORWARD is being led by Emergent’s Certified Coaches, Cindy Masingill & Cathy Gaynor. Most programs will feature a guest speaker, who is a woman leader in our community. She will share her personal insights, philosophies and experiences on the topic of leadership in a casual, relaxed atmosphere.

There is no charge for attending this event.

“I have enjoyed being involved with Emergent’s SheFORWARD Events. It is an excellent forum for women in business to gather together to share leadership stories and strategies in a relaxed more intimate setting.”

—Tracy Higginbotham, Founder and President, Women TIES

“Emergent’s SheFORWARD program provides an amazing opportunity for women to discuss issues of leadership from our point of view. The journey to leadership for women is impacted by gender and it is important to have safe, respectful places to discuss this reality. SheFORWARD is one such place this happens in Central New York. I strongly encourage women leaders to participate in this program.”

– Gwen Webber-McLeod, Founder and President, Gwen, Inc.

Leadership Roundtable Webinar

The word “conversation” means the informal exchange of ideas by spoken words. Some conversations are easier than others. You might consider it easy to make lunch plans, share your views about a recent TED talk, or collaborate on a project; where do you stand with these types of conversations?

  • Giving constructive feedback to someone about their performance.
  • Talking with a peer about their lack of accountability in completing a commitment made to you.
  • Requesting that your boss be on time to the meetings that she scheduled.
  • Sharing with your business partner that you have lost interest in a new initiative that you originally enthusiastically supported.

Whether you call them “crucial” conversations, “fierce” conversations, “difficult” conversations, or “honest” conversations, there are three important skills that leaders need to master:

  1. Determining if, and believing in, the conversation should be had (spoiler alert – most should).
  2. Building the courage to have the conversation.
  3. Approaching the conversation in a way that all parties are heard, while maintaining (and perhaps strengthening) the relationship.

Join Cathy Gaynor in this webinar to learn new ways to have the conversation(s) you’ve always wanted to have. Come prepared with a specific conversation you are concerned about or one you might be avoiding (you won’t be asked to share with the group).

Leadership Roundtable Webinar

We are hoping that the next book, seminar, or vacation will somehow be the answer to whatever ails us. But we come to learn that they are not. We are looking for answers outside of self, that never did or never will exist. We are unconsciously taking our cues from others without examining whether or not those maps are resourceful for us.

We do the dance that we’ve been shown
From everyone we’ve ever known
Until the dance becomes”

Because we are immersed in the way things are, and how we do things, up to 95% of the time we are on automatic pilot, things that we do often become less effective and resourceful, long before we notice. Dated paradigms and cutesy phrases or sayings drive our thoughts and actions. For example:

  • Put your nose to grindstone.
  • The early bird gets the worm.
  • The harder I work the luckier I become.
  • I have plenty of time to rest when I am dead.

During this 1-hour Leadership Roundtable Webinar, let’s explore together what’s working and not working for each of us and have the courage to intentionally change those things that are no longer serving us.

Hosted by Ralph Simone.

ACHIEVE AND SUSTAIN A DEEPER LEVEL OF CONNECTION

Sustainable performance is driven by three concepts: When we are awakened – more conscious of thinking and energy on a moment-by-moment basis – we are able to make more effective choices. When we have developed and strengthened our resilience, we can recover more quickly. And when we are compassionate in relationships and organizations, we help others – and therefore the organization – overcome challenges and thrive.

Conscious Leadership helps us to gain a deeper understanding of self and to facilitate competence in real-time decision making. Conscious leadership is not a destination or achievement; it is a way of being, a way of leading and living.

Conscious Leadership is a 3-part session taking place on October 4, October 18 and November 1.

Leadership Roundtable Webinar

Think Empowerment, Not Delegation.

Growing your team and your leadership is largely about how you share and handle work projects and tasks. As a leader, we need to inspire and trust our team members; as team members, we need someone who will champion our efforts and believe we can do and give so much more in our work.  We can help you learn how to make clear and productive handoffs, and more importantly, to understand how delegation of tasks can empower and drive the potential of the individuals and teams you lead as well as other departments and peers you interact with.

Please join Cathy Gaynor for this webinar on ways to empower with your leadership through the use of delegation.

Leadership Roundtable Webinar

No, it’s not all leadership’s fault; however, as leaders, knowing WHY they are disengaged and HOW to help them shift to highly engaged is your responsibility.

Disengagement, at best, leads to employees leaving your organization. Why do we say “at best”? Because despite the high costs associated with turnover, the costs associated with disengaged employees remaining in the organization are astronomical. These costs include lack of productivity and innovation, giving your competitors an advantage – and that cost could be catastrophic.

Being more fully engaged means employees’ needs are met, which allows them to meet (and often exceed) the needs of the organization. Engaged employees provide the “extra” effort organizations and leaders value, and keeps the advantage where it belongs. With you.
